Flowood, MS– In the wake of Hurricane Francine, numerous blood drives across Mississippi have been canceled due to severe weather conditions. This disruption has created a critical shortage of blood supplies needed for emergencies and routine care in local hospitals. We urgently call on the community to step up and donate blood to help us meet the immediate needs caused by these unforeseen circumstances.
Donor Appreciation Events:
- Blood Drive at Flowood Center: Join us today, September 11th, from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM at the Flowood Center for a crucial blood drive. Donors will receive a commemorative 9/11 t-shirt while supplies last as a token of our appreciation.
- Touchdown for Life Football Ticket Giveaway: Every successful blood product donation made between now and September 18th will automatically enter you into a drawing for a chance to win four tickets to the Eagles vs. Saints game at the Superdome on Sunday, September 22. For details on the promotion, visit: https://tinyurl.com/2ta8tj8w
- Platelet Donors: This September, as we honor Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we have a powerful way to make a difference: donating platelets. Children battling cancer often face severe blood disorders, and platelets are crucial for their treatment. By donating platelets, you can help these brave young fighters by providing them with the support they need to continue their battle. As a token of our appreciation, every donor will receive a $50 Visa gift card!
We encourage everyone to visit their nearest Mississippi Blood Services location to donate. For more information or to find a blood drive near you, call 601-368-2673 or use our blood drive locator and appointment scheduling portal at www.msblood.net. Walk-ins are also welcome.
To ensure a smooth and safe donation experience, remember to:
1 – Bring a valid ID with you for verification purposes.
2 – Make sure you have eaten within the last 4 hours before donating. A balanced meal helps prevent reactions and supports a successful donation.
3 – Drink plenty of fluids before and after donating. Proper hydration is crucial for reducing potential reactions and ensuring adequate blood collection.
