As the New Year approaches, Mississippi Blood Services (MBS) is encouraging Mississippians to “Ring in the New Year” by donating blood or platelets at one of its donation centers or mobile blood drives and helping ensure a strong blood supply for patients across the state.
Blood donations often decline at the end of the year, while hospital demand remains steady. Trauma victims, cancer patients, surgical patients, and those with chronic illnesses rely on blood and platelet donations every day.
To thank donors for helping meet this critical need, Mississippi Blood Services is offering special incentives for donations made December 29–January 3 at the Flowood, Cleveland, and Oxford donation centers:

Whole blood donors at donation centers will receive a $20 Visa gift card

Platelet donors at donation centers will receive a $50 Visa gift card

Whole blood donors at mobile blood drives on December 31 will receive a $20 Visa gift card
“Donating at the end of the year is a meaningful way to give back to your community,” said Kasey Dickson, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Mississippi Blood Services. “These donations help ensure hospitals have the lifesaving blood products they need as we close out the year and head into the New Year.”

Donors can schedule an appointment, find a nearby donation center, or locate a mobile blood drive by visiting msblood.com. Walk-ins are also welcome as space allows. Donors are encouraged to eat well, stay hydrated, and bring a photo ID.
