Mississippi Blood Services offers a variety of services to its hospitals.
Our hospital services department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days of the year. We are always on duty to answer the call from our hospitals.
MBS employs a team of drivers who are on duty at all times and are ready to deliver blood to any part of the state at a moment’s notice.
The MBS reference laboratory is also available for service around the clock. Our technical staff is always available to run special cross-matching tests on donated blood to ensure the safety of the recipient.
MBS employs a Medical Director for assistance with any medical questions.
Our Medical Director is available for a myriad of in-services and training for medical and technical staff in our hospitals. MBS conducts frequent educational conferences and provides CEU certification for physicians and medical technicians.
MBS can provide special products and services for hospital patients (such as cryo poor plasma, pediatric units, etc.)
Should there be a disaster or emergency situation, MBS will be supported by blood centers across the country through our national affiliations. MBS is a founding member of Blood Centers of America (BCA), a member of the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and America’s Blood Centers (ABC). These affiliations give us a national presence and allow us access to other services, research and resource sharing.
