Mississippi Blood Services (MBS) is partnering with nationally known jewelry retailer Kendra Scott for a RESCUE Program Contribution Day on February 10–11, benefiting the Rural Emergency Services Care, blood Utilization and Survival (RESCUE) Program.
The RESCUE Program is a collaboration between MBS, Paladin Emergency Service Consulting, Magnolia Ambulance, and local emergency responders to deliver lifesaving prehospital blood products to rural Mississippi communities where access to trauma care is limited. Since launching in September 2024, the program has served rural counties including Leake, Noxubee, Scott, Sharkey/Issaquena, and Winston, strengthening access to trauma care and emergency blood delivery across rural Mississippi.
“As an EMS physician who oversees paramedics in the field, I’m proud to be part of the team that helped bring this program to life,” said Dr. Damon A. Darsey, EMS physician, CEO of Paladin Emergency Service Consulting, and board member of Mississippi Blood Services. “In just one year, the RESCUE Program has delivered more than 40 units of lifesaving blood to rural Mississippi patients, supported by over 1,000 blood donations and more than $75,000 raised to sustain and grow the program. This partnership is helping us find innovative ways to expand our reach and deliver lifesaving blood where it’s needed most. Rural healthcare matters.”

All donors who give blood at one of MBS’s three donation centers—Flowood, Cleveland, or Oxford—will receive a Valentine’s Day blood donor T-shirt, designed by Mississippi’s nationally recognized editorial cartoonist and author, Marshall Ramsey.
