Mississippi Blood Services is making an urgent appeal for eligible Double Red Cell donors as the organization’s blood inventory has reached critically low levels. Local hospitals need more than 500 red blood cell units over the next two days, making this one of the most urgent blood shortages of the summer.
Through July 31, eligible Double Red Cell donors will receive a $50 Visa® Gift Card when donating at any Mississippi Blood Services donor center or participating mobile blood drive.

A Double Red Cell donation collects two units of lifesaving red blood cells during a single visit, helping replenish the blood supply faster for trauma patients, cancer patients, surgery patients, premature infants, and others who depend on blood transfusions.
As an added bonus, every donor who gives blood during July is automatically entered to win one of five weekly $250 Visa® Gift Cards.
