Communities across Mississippi are coming together to support Deputy Yates Rodney and his family as he continues his recovery. Blood donors from every corner of the state are stepping forward to help ensure lifesaving blood is available while showing Deputy Rodney and his loved ones that they are not alone during this difficult time.
The response has been overwhelming. Friends, neighbors, fellow law enforcement officers, first responders, businesses, churches, schools, and community members have rallied together with one shared goal: supporting Deputy Rodney through the gift of blood donation.
When emergencies happen, there is no substitute for blood and no way to manufacture it. Blood products must already be available before they are needed. When Deputy Rodney required care, those blood products were on hospital shelves because someone chose to donate before an emergency occurred.
Mississippi Blood Services is working directly with the hospital treating Deputy Rodney and the Covington County Sheriff’s Department to help ensure blood and blood components remain available to support his recovery while maintaining an adequate supply for patients across the state.
How You Can Support Deputy Yates Rodney
Community members are encouraged to donate blood at any Mississippi Blood Services donor center or mobile blood drive statewide and request that their donation be credited to Group Code ES58 in support of Deputy Yates Rodney.
Every donation serves as a meaningful way to stand with Deputy Rodney and his family while helping provide lifesaving blood products for patients facing cancer treatments, trauma injuries, surgeries, and medical emergencies throughout Mississippi.
Organizations interested in making an even greater impact can host a blood drive in support of this effort. Businesses, schools, churches, civic organizations, and first responder agencies are encouraged to participate.
