FLOWOOD, MS – April 16, 2026 — Mississippi Blood Services (MBS) is issuing an urgent call for platelet donors as inventory levels have dropped to critically low levels, leaving shelves empty and patients at risk of delayed care.
Why Platelets Matter
Platelets are essential for blood clotting and preventing excessive bleeding. Cancer patients, in particular, rely on regular platelet transfusions during treatment. Without a steady supply, treatments can be delayed, putting lives at risk.
MBS is urging all eligible donors to step forward as soon as possible. As a thank-you, all platelet donors will receive a $50 Visa gift card.
